zadig & voltaire headquarters in paris

Known for its contemporary, rock ‘n’ roll-inspired style, french fashion brand Zadig & Voltaire gives us a peek into its headquarter offices based right into the Parisian streets. Since its creation in 1997, the clothing and accessories marque has been striving with the desire to bring together free spirits around common values, where free spirit does not mean carelessness or inconsistency. On the contrary, as of 2021, the inception of sustainability program VoltAIRe was the brand’s initiative to create timeless designs that would be passed from generation to generation as well as achieve 100% eco-friendly packaging of their products by 2025.

The Paris-based company was founded in 1997 by Thierry Gillier and was actually named after the famous French philosophical novella ‘Zadig’ or else ‘Book of Fate,’ by Voltaire. Indifferent to the norms, diktats and codes of traditional luxury, the House has revealed over time its passion for freedom, an aspiration that fuels its creativity. The brand has made duality its signature with influences by musical worlds and distinctly Parisian contemporary art. Cecilia Bönström, Zadig & Voltaire’s Artistic Director, creates looks that breathe contemporary but timeless sophistication.

The brand is celebrated for its edgy yet casual style, which includes a wide range of clothing and accessories. Some of the signature pieces in their collections include leather jackets, distressed denim, graphic t-shirts, and statement sweaters, as well as bags. Known for its ability to infuse a sense of effortless chic into its designs, Zadig & Voltaire is becoming a prominent player in the luxury fashion industry. With Cecilia Bönström as the artistic director since 2006, the company has managed to conquer the free yet demanding style guide, advising anyone who wishes to express their individuality and find their own style away from impositions.

The qualities of the brand are only fortified when stepping into the headquarters on 58 Rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Paris. Large french windows, parquet and tiled floors, intricate golden décor on the doors, and vaulted corridors exude the luxurious and timeless design language. The space speaks volumes of Zadig & Voltaire’s meticulous attention to detail. From where the natural light penetrates and refracts on the white walls to the curving ornaments of the staircase’s railing that contrast the more modern black and white marble tiling.

VOLTAIRE AIR PROTECTION

What teams have put in place over time to design products that have less impact on the planet has come together in 2021 to create the VoltAIRe program. The name contains its main objective: to protect the air. Thus, through VoltAIRe air protection, the Maison declares its ambition to contribute, in its own way, to the fight against pollution and climate change and preservation for biodiversity. The goal of Zadig & Voltaire is to dramatically reduce its environmental footprint, taking this opportunity to combining desirability and responsibility as a way to express committed freedom. As a result, timeless designs made with careful considerations towards people and ecosystems bring together the brand’s positive and pragmatic initiative.

To dive into more detail, in all countries, 100% of the Maison’s store bags and e-commerce boxes are packaged entirely of certified paper or cardboard, made from a blend of recycled trace-certified fibers sourced from forests managed in sustainable way, and is 100% recyclable. Additionally, the company is also working to eliminate virgin plastic obtained from fossil sources. To this end, all the bags (polybags) used are made from a bio-based material derived from sugar cane or recycled material. The goal is the achievement of a completely sustainable way of packaging by 2025.
